Is 'zoning out' good or bad?
« on: April 16, 2019, 12:14:56 PM »
Newbie here. Question: Sometimes when listening to a meditation I feel 'buzzy' and do what I call 'zone out'. It feels good and I just go with it- must leave my body or something, don't see anything, just feel good. Don't know what triggers me to 'come back' but when i do I've missed a lot of the meditation. Is this something I should make an effort to stop? Or is it a good thing and I should just go with it?  I remember Dr Joe going over Brain charts saying 'they're gone', and I feel like that is me. Yet, I am missing out on the 'work' we are doing in the meditation.Advice please! Appreciate you!

Hello :)
I have had the same experience in the beginning of my meditation journey, I personally noticed a very big, very good change during meditations and also afterwards when I started to not let myself zoom out anymore.
I guess the zooming out is a good thing - but (at least for me) better to be done without listening to a guided meditation, maybe some relaxing music would work as well?
Hope this helps!
